Room sharing with siblings. I can’t imagine many families explore this option without a bit of trepidation. So the plan is to take two tiny humans and put them in the same room at their most tired time of the day and hope that they sleep peacefully the whole night through? A daunting thought for many! Admittedly, the process will most likely have a few hiccups but it absolutely can be done and can be a really amazing bonding experience as well. Read More
Our family loves to travel and despite the additional effort of packing 222 more things than we did prior to having kids, we haven’t let the added complexities keep us from exploring our beautiful province and beyond.
And while the reality is that baby sleep and travel are not the most complimentary pair you’ve ever met, as seasoned travellers (think road-tripping to The Yukon in a trailer with a toddler, the UK and back x 3 with infants) we’ve got a pretty refined system in place that has taken a lot of the stress and anxiety out of sleeping away from home and I’m happy to share our experienced tips with you.Read More
I imagine I am not the only parent to dread the end of Daylight Savings Time each fall. It will be with a ton of eye rolling and frustrated sighing that I roam the house on the evening of Saturday, November 4th dialling all of the clocks in our home back by one hour, in anticipation of the clocks falling back when our family wakes on Sunday morning.Read More
Heading out camping with your baby can be a daunting prospect, to say the least. Since our family has logged 100’s of nights in the Great Outdoors, I am happy to share my top tips for sound baby sleep. Whether camping in Kamloops, Chilliwack or Prince George, my philosophy, as both a sleep consultant and mama, has remained the same – keeping my little one’s sleep environment and routine as familiar as possible to ultimately pave the way to sounder sleep for our entire family.
With such beauty to be found throughout the Fraser Valley, into the Okanagan and beyond, it’s no wonder so many families want to chat about how to survive camping with their babies once they have solidified a healthy foundation for sleep. As an accredited sleep consultant, you might think I would keep my little ones close to home – but the reality is we spend a few months of every year in The Great Outdoors and my little one’s sleep remains (mostly!) intact despite our rustic travels.
This photo of one of my husband’s back country adventures is a true representation of the life that he lives. Never one to shy from adventure, his passion for the outdoors paves quite the trail for our family. The critical piece in all of this is that our girls seem to have that very same adventurous spirit. And so our story goes. And happily, I should add, as I have extremely fond memories as a little girl fishing with my dad while on extended camping trips with our family. Living life and sleeping well do not have to be mutually exclusive terms.
I'm happy to chat.
